Cure, is a Coffeehouse and Brasserie that’s located in the Freemason neighborhood of downtown Norfolk. Surronded by cobblestone, brick laying and street lights, this isn’t your average Coffeehouse. The inside offers a relaxing atmosphere with urban-style couches, soothing music playing in the background and a friendly staff. Cure opened up on February 26, 2011 by Mike Aston and Christopher Shelton.
They got their start into coffee about two months before business day one. Together, they had a vision of simplicity and to keep things fresh for their guests. In addition, they share the responsiblities of staff management, marketing, business development and assortment of other duties.
Both felt absolutely compelled to introducer their own version of Pastrami Reuben to Hampton Roads when at first they discovered it. The location begged for a coffee shop, however, Mike and Christopher thought the idea to blend these categories together. Also, the Freemason neighborhood was missing a watering hole that had reasonable prices and served a great selection of non-run-of-the-mil American light lagers.
Cure, purveys coffee roasted by Counter Culture in Durham, North Carolina, one of the most well-respected roasters on the east coast and popular among coffee connoisseurs. The blends that Cure offer are seasonally selected, and obtained through direct trade relationships.
Lastly, Cure serves a variety of artisan sandwiches and salads, homemade baked goods, and small plates for those folks with smaller appetites. What is their best seller you ask? The Pastrami Reuben, in which the Pastrami is smoked on location. More importantly, Cure offers a wide variety of beverages, including boutique sodas, craft beer, wine, fresh-squeezed homemade lemondade, loose leaf tea, and, of course, your usual coffeehouse favorites. To keep things interesting, craft beer is always on rotation, boasting 5 on-tap.
