The Local Music Show on 96x FM supports and showcases all styles and genres of local artists in the Hampton Roads area. The show airs every Sunday night from 11pm till midnight and is hosted by Crizti Walsh. I was introduced to Crizti by Larry from the band 'The Dahus'. A big thank you to him! Fitting me into her busy schedule, Crizti took the time do an interview.

My interview with Crizti Walsh:

Muzik Lounge: When did 'The Local Musi Show' begin?
Crizti: The Local Music Show on 96x first aired on April 15, 2012

Muzik Lounge: What day and time does the show air?
Crizti: Sunday nights, 11 till midnight, right after 'The Late Late Rock Show'

Muzik Lounge: What made you want to start up the show?
Crizti: It wasn't just me. James Steele, Program Director of 96x was getting turned on to some local acts. I approached him - telling him it was a great time to consider doing a show like this - with local music. He agreed and asked me if I would do it...and there we have it!

Muzik Lounge: How does an artist/band go about submitting their music? and to be featured on the show?

Muzik Lounge: After receiving the content from the artist/band, what is the process before playing on the radio?
Crizti: All of the songs go into a music file. I listen to every single submission and then sort them into various categories. I try to make sure that when I decide on a show' play list, that it's fairly diverse - as far as genre's are concerned. I want to make sure there isn't too much of any sort of music and that there is something for everyone...be it rap, reggae, metal, indie..And of course one local oldie each show.

Muzik Lounge: What is your favorite venue to check out the local music?
Crizti: That is a tough one - there are a lot of really great places to see live music around here. I applaud the owners and staff at each and every one of them supporting the local talent that we have in Hampton Roads.

Muzik Lounge: When did you staty working at 96x?
Crizti: I started working at the Sinclair Stations radio group in 2006.

Muzik Lounge: What do you like to do for fun?
Crizti: Frighten small childer..HA! I kid..I kid! Um, I don't know. I like to play music, and obviously see live music or just listen to the music. Paint...read..goofing around with friends when I can. I don't generally have gobs of free time so I try to make the most of it when I do.

Muzik Lounge: What are the future plans for the show?
Crizti: I don’t think I have a set plan.  Creating a plan would just set up certain expectations.  I love the show and am happy to be doing it.  My goals are to keep it going and to get as much local talent on the airwaves as possible.  It’s such a rush when someone tells me that they listened and found a new favorite local band because of the show.  If I could just keep doing that… that’d be cool.
